What I'm trying to express isn't anxiety about robots or computers specifically, but about the extractive logic of capital. Even as we start to produce machines that look and act increasingly human, we are already playing roles (one could call us components) in a giant, diffuse machine called the capitalist enterprise, which is steadily degrading the biosphere — that part seems to me beyond disagreement. I'm not really worried about AI per se, I think they offer fascinating potential as tools (as well as some gnarly ethical questions), as do markets, but I don't want either to dictate life on this planet.
